On 29 June 2026, the Primary Division of our school held a celebration marking 1 July under the theme "United in Celebrating the Party's Founding, Marking Hong Kong's Return, and Innovating for the Future through Technology". All pupils took part in the event, fostering a stronger sense of national identity and civic responsibility.
The day began with a flag-raising ceremony. Ms. ZHANG Feiqin, Secretary of the Party Branch, delivered a speech entitled "The Spirit of the Red Boat: Shenzhen and Hong Kong United on 1 July". Reflecting on the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the spirit of the Red Boat, she also revisited the historic return of Hong Kong to China in 1997. Drawing on the school's journey of Shenzhen-Hong Kong integrated education, she encouraged pupils to uphold patriotism and move forward together with a shared sense of purpose.
The celebrations were organised according to grades. Pupils in Grades 1 to 3 staged class-based talent showcases, expressing their love for the Party and the country through songs and poetry recitations. Meanwhile, Grades 4 and 5 presented a variety of performances in the school's 400-seat Theatre, including clarinet solos, instrumental ensembles, drum performances, recitations, choral singing and Latin dance. Performances such as When the Bauhinia Blooms, We Embark on a New Chapter Together, Descendants of the Dragon and Rivers and Mountains echoed the themes of the Party's founding and Hong Kong's return, with pupils conveying their heartfelt patriotism through enthusiastic performances.

Following the performances, each class watched educational videos on China's advances in technology and modernisation. Pupils then completed related worksheets, gaining a direct appreciation of the country's rapid development. Outstanding work was recognised by class teachers, encouraging pupils to pursue their aspirations in technology and innovation.
As we celebrate 1 July with gratitude, patriotism continues to take root in every child's heart. At Pui Kiu Xinyi School, patriotic education is not merely a slogan but an integral part of everyday school life. Every Monday, pupils gather for the flag-raising ceremony and make solemn pledges beneath the national flag, strengthening their sense of national identity. Inside and outside the classroom, school history talks and national security education help bring China's outstanding traditional culture and national spirit to life. From taking on responsibilities as Moral Ambassadors to learning and growing together as pupils from Shenzhen and Hong Kong, we nurture a shared sense of belonging to the Chinese nation in quiet yet meaningful ways. We hope that every Pui Kiu Xinyi pupil will aspire to serve the country, cherish a deep love for the nation, and flourish as they grow in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
